Large, horizontal black marble steps lead you to the first floor containing rooms for the clinic and IB rooms. You can take the stairs to go down the basement to reach the 2 music rooms with large windows . There are two entry points to the music room one from the main gate and the other from the side which leads to the Drama rooms with open space right in the center for outdoor performance. The new drama studio is designed around the concept of Black Box Theatre. To the rear of the studio, there is also an incorporated classroom. Students are free then to move between classroom and theatrical space as required. Black Box Theatre is a form of experimental theater popular since the 1960s which incorporates a very simple, unadorned design making it an extremely flexible space. As its name would suggest, the Black Box Theatre is designed kind of like a box. The room which contains the theater is typically square and painted black, because black is a neutral color which will not clash with costumes, sets and lighting. It is also surrounded by black curtains including stage curtains adding to a ‘wings’ effect and a stage. The floor is flat and open, allowing people to arrange seating however they desire.
The central courtyard is tiled forming a chess-board and giant chess pieces are available for students to play during free time.
A stair case will take you to the second floor where the Foreign Language, Mathematics, Amharic and Art rooms are located. What makes the Art room unique is that the French window opens to a spacious gallery.
The third floor houses our Learning Resources Center with one office for the librarians, large reception desk and an open space for books shelves, desks for studying and reception . The LRC is equipped with computers for student work and research. The library has 3 exit doors leading to a wide veranda overlooking the mountains.
A large 60 year old tree has been preserved to decorate the new building which penetrates the side of the building from the bottom to the top making the area roofless.
