UN Day at Sandford International School:
On October 22nd SIS celebrated the 65th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. It was a celebration of our diversity and the unified purpose which unites us just like United Nations. It was also a day to reflect upon the successes and challenges of the United Nations.
The celebration began with our Parade of Nations! We had almost 50 nations represented!

After a welcome speech by our Senior Manager, Ato Kumlachew Aberra, Dr. Adama E Coulibaly, the chief of Agricultural Production Systems Section, Food Security and Development Division of the UNECA spoke. In his speech, he reminded us of the challenge we face in living up to the ideals of the UN and our responsibilities as individuals.
Duri Abdurahaman, our Student Government President, spoke of the human rights challenges we face. He challenged each of us to live up to the promises of the Universal Declaration of Human Right.
Finally, after sharing food from many countries, different events such as cultural fashion show music and dances took place in secondary as well as in primary divisions.
